Queerdom Queerdom in your face!

I was really surprised because insurance has always been considered non interstate commerce. It is regulated by the states not the federal gov't thus making it intrastate and beyond federal jusidictiion. Or so I thought. I was also surprised that the insurance companies were silent no doubt looking forward to huge gov't contracts until the gov't goes into the insurance business for profit to compete with them. I'm so ready to move. Do you know of any place that I can go that I wouldn't have to learn a foreign language and still have a limited amount of rights. Only border close to me is Mexico. I was thinking more like Vancouver. I guess I should learn how to spell it first.

Well I'm disgusted all over again. I have occasionally watched Tosh.0 on the comedy channel, probably ten times or so. Not something I plan on watching, but I have stopped on occasion when channel flipping and can't find anything better.

If you haven't seen the show it's mostly playing clips from youtube and the like and making jokes about them. On some episodes I have seen Tosh dress gayly and make gay jokes, but the ep I just saw was disgusting!

Tosh and some other male staffers from his show where licking each others faces and grabbing each others genitals. Truly disgusting, so another show I'll never watch again... and I was already ignoring the occasional gay dressing and comments since the other comedy bits are funny. But I'm not going to watch actual gay interactions no matter how funny the rest of the show is.

On another note, if you haven't heard Andy Griffith died 7-3-12... You know, he's the guy who played tv's Sheriff Andy Taylor from Mayberry and the lawyer Matlock, as well as many other parts in many movies and shows.

This guy and his fellow castmates were truly funny (I'm think 'The Andy Griffith Show' in particular), and made a show that is still one of the funniest shows ever made. Not only that but that show, and Matlock as well, also put across strong moral lessons like family unity, love your neighbor, help your fellow man, patriotism, faith in God, etc, etc, etc...

And they did it all without ever making toilet jokes, being gay, or making excuses for the same...

So what cr@ppy comment did I see one person leave in the comments of an article announcing his death? "Despite being a devote Christian, he seemed like an ok guy."

What a complete @sshat! It was because of the fact that he was a devote Christian that he was a GREAT man, not despite it. And I know as much as I'd like to smack that @sshat across the face for that comment, Andy would be the first to tell me not too.

Guess I didn't initially quote him exactly right, but I got his sentiment right. I also initially missed his joke about how he was buried five hours before he died rather than five hours after.

Even though that's more statement than argument, it's basically a slippery slope fallacy. I imagine people were making the same arguments when interracial marriage was legalized.

I think it has more to do with a need for superiority. "I am better than those people because of y or x". We should just be able to laugh them off but unfortunately they've found a lot of people in congress and conservative media that will carry water for them and make 'issues' out of things that just aren't.

This is the thing. Why not allow all marriage if you are going to allow gay marriage. Why not allow a man to marry as many men women he wants or a woman marry as many men or woman she wants or both? Why not do it? The argument is if they love each other. Well what if you love more then one person. Who are we or you to say they cannot get married? If your going to use the equal treatment clause of the constitution doesn't that apply to this also?

I am just saying. Oh by the way I could care less if they legalize gay marriage. It is one of those things where big deal.

Certainly polygamy was popular for a long time, in Christianity as well as other religions. I'm not sure why it was eventually outlawed throughout much of the world, I'd have to look into that. But it's an argument that would have to stand on it's own merits if a large group of people wanted to make it legal. I think other examples e.g., marrying your pet, or a child are ridiculous in the extreme and come off as nothing more than hyperbole, because there is a plethora of legal reasons to forbid these unions.

I don't have a problem with polygamy either.  As long as you can reconcile the legal intracicies of property and child support in the event of a divorce.  I think that is the biggest hurdle to that one.  At least you didn't go down the bs path of gay marriage leading to beastiality or incest.

Difference being that one can be born gay, no one is born a theist.

Even I do not think someone should be fired for being gay. Now I can argue that no one is born gay. I have never bought that argument and never will.
